Carbon Footprint Module
While the Carbon Trust continues to offer free tailored surveys to businesses in order to reduce energy and carbon emissions (using accrediated consultants to identify energy-saving opportunities and provide practical advice on how to achieve them), as part of the newly launched ‘Carbon footprinting’ programme rolled out in October an extended site survey incorporating an optional basic carbon footprint module is now available. www.carbontrust.co.uk/energy/assessyourorganisation/carbonsurvey.htm
This extended survey shifts the report emphasis from the company’s energy use to the company’s carbon footprint, both in the way emissions are presented and by widening the range of emissions reviewed.
The second initiative in the programme also went live in October; an online calculator and knowledge area. Accessible through the Carbon Trust’s website, the calculator offers companies two methods of calculating their footprint - a ‘quick view’ based on fuel and power usage, or a more detailed footprint including a wider range of direct and indirect emissions.
