RHANI Welcomes Latest Court Decision on Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme

Having confirmed the former Economy Minister Simon Hamilton’s decision to publish individual recipients’ names was unlawful, the Court has now ordered the Department of Economy to pay the Renewable Heat Association’s legal costs.

The Court also set a trial date in June to hear the Association’s judicial review of the decision to introduce emergency legislation relating to the Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme.

The Renewable Heat Association, which represents hundreds of non-domestic biomass boiler owners across the Province, says it is pleased that the Court has endorsed its view of the rights of the individual scheme participants and welcomes the decision as to costs.

Michael Doran, spokesperson, RHANI commented: “The Association is satisfied with this decision and looks forward to discussing the more substantive issue of the purported amendments to the scheme later this year.”
