Sustainable Ireland Summer 2018

Welcome to the summer edition of Sustainable Ireland’s new digital magazine which, by its very nature, is more environmentally friendly and sustainable than ever.

The magazine is published in a digital, downloadable format three times a year in Spring, Summer & Autumn, and in Winter in print format, highlighting our annual Awards; this latest issue brings you all the important news from the waste management, energy and environmental sectors.

We report on how more than a third of electricity generated in Northern Ireland is now coming from renewable sources, according to a recent survey, the vast majority of that from wind. We also hear from a new industry voice for Northern Ireland’s recycling and waste management sector.
Recycle NI represents a number of resource and waste management organisations, the first time this sector has organised an industry body.

Companies in the news include Avenue Recycling who have scored a notable ‘first’ on being awarded a significant contract from Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council to collect all of its brown and black bin waste. Meanwhile, North Down and Ards Borough Council recently took delivery from Antrim based Stewart Commercials of what is the very first VDK REL skip lorry in Northern Ireland.

In addition, with our annual 2018 awards looming large on the horizon, you’ll find all you need to know on how to enter this prestigious and long established event. Entering is easy, but hurry as the deadline is almost upon us.
